Linnhoff March was founded in 1984 as an independent process consultancy for the oil and chemical industries. The company pioneered Pinch Analysis™ which quickly became the industry standard for energy conservation and capital cost reduction through better process design. In fact, by 1990, 14 of the world's 20 largest oil and petrochemical companies had become regular clients.

In 2002 Linnhoff March was acquired by KBC Process Technology Ltd, a subsidiary of KBC Advanced Technologies plc. KBC Advanced Technologies plc is the leading independent process engineering consultancy, improving operational efficiency and profitability in the hydrocarbon processing industry worldwide. KBC analyses plant operations and management systems, recommends changes that deliver material and measurable improvements in profitability, and offers Implementation Services to assist clients in realising measurable financial improvements.

Operating as a division of KBC Linnhoff March is still the world's leading pinch technology company, but our portfolio has grown to include other process design services and software products all with a common feature. They enable a systematic approach to process optimisation.

The type of consultancy projects that we undertake include process design and de-bottlenecking, TotalSite™ optimisation, yield improvements, utility system modelling, energy revamps, emissions targeting, hydrogen management and (waste) water reductions. In parallel, our award-winning software continues to lead the field in technical innovation, practicality and ease of use.
