Water
minimisation studies are often hampered
or prevented by insufficient, inaccurate
or conflicting water and contaminant balance
data. WaterTracker is a tool designed to
address this problem by quickly describing
your existing network, determining the minimum
additional measurements required and then
identifying and resolving data conflicts.
WaterTracker was designed to help any engineer
facing the task of achieving a water and
contaminant balance based on limited data
of variable quality. With WaterTracker you
can produce accurate, reconciled balances
in a fraction of the time taken by other
approaches.

An
intuitive interface |
WaterTracker
provides a highly intuitive user interface
for setting up the water network, providing
drag-and-drop drawing features and easy
point-and-click data access. WaterTracker
provides many standard water-related unit
operation models, such as Reverse Osmosis,
D.A.F, various filter and stripper models,
etc. and a model design wizard for producing
customised models of your own unit operations.
Metering
analysis
After
you have created a valid network structure
the unique metering analysis facilities
will minimise the time and cost of improving
the quality and reliability of the balance.
This is done by identifying which flow rate
or concentration will eliminate most uncertainty
if measured next. As more data is entered
into metering analysis continues to direct
your efforts towards the remaining key measurements.
The software will also allow you to test
the effectiveness of different meter sequences
to allow the development of the most effective
metering plan in advance of taking any additional
measurements.
Data
entry and conflict resolution
Flow
rate and concentration data are entered
with a trust category that indicates how
reliable each value is. WaterTracker will
rigorously check your data and, should a
conflict arise, use the confidence values
to relax the least trustworthy data item(s)
to find a solution. Where conflicts can
not be resolved, the software indicates
the data items that are causing the conflict.
Optimising
the network
In
many cases a better understanding of the
water network will lead to identification
of easy-win water minimisation opportunities.
For an in depth analysis and a fully optimised
water network the results from WaterTracker
can be quickly be transferred to WaterPinch
to identify the best opportunities for water
recycle, regeneration and treatment.
